5 New Year’s Resolutions For Gym Goers
The start of a new year is a brilliant time to make some resolutions about your gym-going, whether you’re an avid fitness enthusiast who goes to the gym all the time or someone who’s never been but wants to start prioritising health and fitness in 2019. (If the latter sounds familiar, get in touch with online personal trainer Expert PT for lots of hints and tips.)
So what should you resolve to do and how can you go about sticking to it? Here are a few New Year’s Resolutions that you might find of interest. We’d love to hear what you plan to do gym-wise in the new year, so get in touch with us ASAP and let us know your stories.
Find a gym buddy
When you first start, it can be very hard to stick to your goals and get the results you want. It can take months to see results, unfortunately, so it’s no surprise that there are many who give up before they get where they want to be. But working out with a friend means there will always be someone there who can encourage you, check in on you and make you work out even when you’re not feeling it.
Get a personal trainer
Yes, you can achieve the results you want on your own but motivation is often the main problem when it comes to hitting the gym hard. We all have so many other commitments that it’s not surprising if fitness is often at the bottom of the pile after a long hard day at work. But you’re more likely to go to the gym more if you’re paying for a trainer as well as your gym subscription.
Try something new
Taking yourself outside your comfort zone and doing something a little different, as well as hitting the weights and going running, will help keep it interesting and fun. What about aerial hoops or a trapeze class? Hula hooping is lots of fun, a great workout and a brilliant way to spend time with your friends.
Get more sleep!
Those of you really working yourself hard in the gym won’t find this resolution hard to stick to… getting enough sleep is so important for recovery after a hard training session and you won’t be able to perform as well in the gym without enough shuteye, so make sure you’re getting at least seven hours of good quality rest each night.
Sign up for a challenge
There’s nothing like having a goal to work towards so why don’t you sign up for a 10k or even a half marathon next year? There are lots going on throughout the year – and you could even make it even more fun by combining it with a holiday overseas!
