Christmas Calories
It’s Christmassssss!
It's now the 19th of December, which means that Christmas spirit is in full swing, and with that, comes the mince pies, the copious amounts of alcohol and an infinite number of chocolates.
This post is for people who wish to enjoy their Christmas while avoiding too much weight gain. It's not for people who are planning on gaining a ***k ton of weight, and it's not for people who are on competition prep, who are planning on weighing up their Christmas dinner.
I, as well as my clients, like to achieve great results without having to give up the social aspect that food provides us. Having said that, I've personally worked too hard the last few months re-revealing my abs to let that go. So here's what I'm going to do to maintain current leanness over Christmas:
I'm going to consume fewer calories leading up to the day
I'm going to eat fewer calories the days after Christmas
I'm going to maintain current training frequency and simply go for runs when the gym's closed
And that's it!
On Christmas Day, I'll be eating as much, as I like as often as I like, I'll be taking a break from tracking my intake. Trust me, one day of eating will not set back months of progress!
If you're one of my clients and you see me log in to MyFitnessPal, it's not because I'm tracking and weighing up my chocolate Gateau (posh cake for us council folk), it's because I need to maintain my current 1060 day streak! Side note, that's not necessarily 1060 days of obsessively tracking my own diet, it's 1060 days of obsessively tracking clients diet.
You think Father Christmas (Santa Claus for my US clients), controls his calories on Christmas day, hell no! He eats the milk and cookies, jumps on his sleigh and cracks open an ice-cold bottle of Coca Cola.
I know what you're thinking, Father Christmas is overweight. Well, that's where you're wrong.
The last few years, Father Christmas has been smashing the gym and watching what he eats. He’s tired of Rudolf giving him hassle for "dragging his 45% body fat all over the world", and he's sick of feeling tired all the time. If you've ever not received what you asked for, you're either naughty, or Father Christmas was just too tired that day, consequently missing a few houses. This is why on Christmas Day, 1997, I didn't receive the famous GoldenEye 007 game for the Nintendo 64.
These days father Christmas is looking better than ever, feeling better than ever, is no longer tired and is ready to get a PB (Personal Best) on a well-executed Christmas. Though, he'll still be enjoying himself, eating those cookies and enjoying Mrs Claus' Christmas Dinner upon completion of delivering today’s Games Consoles to all the kids out there. Which I assume are better than my beloved GoldenEye 007 and Duke Nukem back in the day.
Yes, I'm probably too young to use the words " back in the day", but there we go.
So be more like good old Saint Nicholas, embrace your Christmas day, but get/stay lean for the rest of the year!
I was going to add a photo to this post, a photo of a shredded Father Christmas, but upon looking, I found this photo of a festive dog, which is so much better!!
