10 Minutes Exercise A Day ‘Boosts Memory’
If you’re looking for online personal training, the chances are that you’re looking to make a significant lifestyle change - to improve your health or change the way you look. But a new study has found that exercise not only makes your body more healthy, but even possibly your brain.
As little as 10 minutes of light exercise a day could be enough to ‘boost brain connectivity’ according to the new study, reports the Guardian. This connectivity occurs in areas of the brain which help to distinguish between similar memories, as well as form and store memories.
This is great news for older people, who are more likely to suffer from memory problems, and it can be achieved with lightweight exercise such as tai chi, yoga or even just slow walking.
However, the study, which was conducted by the University of California, actually used 36 healthy volunteers in their early 20s, using memory tests after exercising and again without any exercise.
Those who had exercised were more likely to be recall from the memory test more easily, however, the study also found that the frequency and amount of exercise required depended on other factors, such as age, lifestyle and level of mobility.
When hooked up to devices to monitor brain function, the study also found a change in mood when completing the test after exercise compared to when no exercise had been done.
So, there you go - even more compelling reasons to sort out your exercise scheme and build in some time with an online personal trainer.
