5 Health & Fitness New Year’s Resolutions
Naturally, at the end of a year, we sit back a little and take some time to reflect on the 12 months that have just passed, taking stock and looking at our lives a little more objectively than we might perhaps otherwise do.
It’s the perfect time to do a little soul searching and see if there’s anything we could work on that would make a difference to our lives and how we’re feeling about ourselves… and, where health and fitness are both concerned, there are always little changes here and there we can make that will help us attain our ultimate goals.
To help you get started with your new year’s resolution lists for 2023, here are just a couple of ideas from the Expert PT!
Consider fitness coaching
If you’re new to training and exercise, it can be beneficial to consider professional fitness coaching, as this can help give you the confidence you need to hit the gym floor (which can be intimidating at first). It can also help you get to grips with technique, which is essential knowledge to have if you’re to train safely and in a way that will benefit your body.
Take progress shots
Photographing yourself on your fitness journey can really help you stay on track. It may feel a little uncomfortable at first, but over time you’ll be able to see just how far you’ve come and how much work you’ve put in – and how proud you should be of yourself!
Try mindfulness
Physical resilience is strongly linked to mental and emotional resilience, so focusing on your mental health as well as hitting the gym can help you feel even more tiptop and full of energy.
Mindfulness is great for helping you clear your mind and anchor yourself in the present moment, and it can be practised anywhere, no matter what you’re doing. Just a few minutes each day can make a huge difference to how you’re feeling and this will translate to other areas of your life in no time.
Always exercise on a Monday
Starting the week off with exercise is a really good strategy, as it will put you in the right frame of mind immediately and it will keep you out of trouble on Sunday nights, as well!
Of course, if you have work or life commitments, you can be flexible but aiming to get some exercise in on a Monday more often than not will set you up for the week ahead.
Make healthy snacks
Having a stock of healthy treats in the cupboards and fridge can make a huge difference and help you hit your goals a lot quicker. There are loads of delicious and nutritious recipes out there that won’t take long to make and you can just have a steady supply within easy reach the next time you feel like snacking.
