I recently achieved something I'm pretty proud of – a Level 5 Diploma in Advanced Nutrition Science!
What is a calorie deficit?
A calorie deficit is when you consume fewer calories than you burn. If you consume 2000 calories and your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is 2500 calories, you will be in a 500 calorie deficit. A calorie deficit is a fundamental underpinning to any effective weight-loss strategy — if you're in a calorie deficit, you will unequivocally lose weight/body fat over time.
Weekend calories sabotaging your progress?
It's not uncommon for us to let our hair down over the weekend – we've had a busy week, and we just want to relax and treat ourselves. This rationale is understandable – we all do it! But unfortunately for many, including myself, the calories we consume over the weekend can easily offset the deficit created through the week.
